Five brothers ventured south to Atlanta, Georgia to partake in the Carlson Leadership Conference this past weekend. Juniors Zack Longboy and Michael Keating were joined by sophomores David Thole, Josh Gilpin, and Jonas Jacobson at the conference that was attended by chapters from throughout the Southeast region.
Longboy and Keating attended leadership tracks specific to their respective roles as Chapter President and Vice President of Communications, while the sophomore cohort attended tracks specifically tailored to develop leadership skills for underclassmen. Gilpin participated in the Recruitment Skills track, Jacobson in the Balanced Man Program track, and Thole in the Rising Leaders track. Each track consists of lectures from members of Headquarters and small group discussion with brothers from similar positions at other chapters. These sessions serve as an opportunity to improve our chapter operations through lively conversation, guidance from recent graduates, and an extremely beneficial exchange of ideas.
The group was lucky enough to listen to a speech by JD Doughney—Managing Global Client Partner and a member of Florida Epsilon—who highlighted the benefits and takeaways from his time as a SigEp at Florida State, as well as from his own experiences at Carlson Leadership Academy, that he continues to apply in his personal and career life.
The group departed Davidson on Friday afternoon, with a full day of programming through Saturday night before returning back to campus.
